Joanna Pantigoso Vacation Photographer based in Amsterdam

discover all what you can do within your photographic experience in the most beautiful gardens in The Netherlands

Welcome to The Netherlands

The Tulip Region (De Bollenstreek) is located in the province of South Holland, and travel time from Amsterdam is only around 40minutes to 1 hour. The region is not well connected by trains, so we need to take buses for it, which makes the trip a bit longer and sometimes confusing. In this guide you will have all the information needed to make your trip as easy as possible, from transportation, to the gardens that you can visit with me or on your own, to the options for creating your photographic experience within the region.

And if you don't find something, please feel free to send me a message and I will help you all the way to make this dream to be surrounded by tulips a reality.

The photographic experience in the Tulip Region, as it is far from Amsterdam requires a minimum of 60-minute booking and a transport fee. You can book the same options shown on the main website and in the comments add that you want Keukenhof or Tulip Region (or both), and we will send the additional transfer fee to be added to your booking.

I know you might want 30 minutes only, there is an option with a private field from April 18th to April 29th, spaces are limited and subject to weather. If you want to add the Private Tulip Field to your desired route, keep in mind the Travel fee will be €100. Travel fees are always invoice separately.

Let's start with the information.

What is the Tulip Region? and why is it important for The Netherlands?

The Tulip Region, also known as the "Bollenstreek," is a colorful slice of beauty in The Netherlands. It's famous for its stunning tulip fields that burst into a vibrant kaleidoscope of colors during Spring. These blooming fields are not just a visual treat but hold significant economic importance for the country. The tulip industry is a major player in Dutch agriculture and tourism. The export of tulip bulbs contributes significantly to The Netherlands' economy, making it a symbol of Dutch culture worldwide. So, beyond its picturesque charm, the Tulip Region is a vital part of the Netherlands' identity and economic landscape. But as beautiful as they are, we need to have in mind that stepping in those fields can endanger the final product which are the bulbs.

This is the reason why some farmers started to open Gardens in the region. Gardens are areas that you can enter, walk between tulips, get closer, taking pictures, and even pick up some tulips for an entry fee.

The most known garden is Keukenhof, but is not the only one. Keukenhof is the largest garden in Europe and you will need at least 2 hours to visit it.

Also, it is important to know this is not the only area with tulips in The Netherlands, but the closest one and with the easiest access to public transport. During the season that starts March 21st we will be exploring other areas as well.

Step 1: How to get there?

The easiest way from Amsterdam is to go by train from your location to Schiphol airport. Then, you can hop on a direct bus from Schiphol Airport. The bus ride is around 40 minutes, and they run frequently during the Keukenhof season. If you plan to go to Keukenhof you can always purchase a Combi ticket that also guarantees your return ticket from Keukenhof. This bus ticket is purchased through Keukenhof website www.keukenhof.nl. Even if you want to visit the region, but not Keukenhof, purchasing the bus ticket through this website is the fastest and reliable way to go.

Another option is to take a train to Hillegom, and then cycle from there. If you have already a day rental bike while in Amsterdam you can opt for this. Only take into account you will need a ticket for taking the bike on the train, and the bike will not enter Keukenhof, but you will get there looking to all beautiful fields on the way, and then use it to explore the complete region. We will give you a link to a full exploration Google Maps if you are doing The Explorer or Lifestyle Route with us.

This is my preferred way to go, and the one I will be using this year. You are more than welcome to cycle with me on the way to your preferred tulip garden. Do you want a customised experience for 1 or 2 persons? Send me a DM or message.

Step 2: Which options are possible in the Tulip Gardens?

To making the booking process simpler, we offer the same options we do in Amsterdam, with a minimum session of 60 minutes, and with an added travel fee. But, on this case, instead of wandering the streets of Amsterdam, we will be exploring the gardens of the Tulip Region.

And we say gardens, not fields, as we will be only entering to gardens that allow access to the public for a fee. This means we can freely walk in there after we have paid the entrance.

Now, there is not only one garden, Keukenhof, but several in the region that allows entry, so you can custom-tailor your experience depending to the time you have and how many gardens you would want to visit.

All options cover the fees of the photographer (Travel fee) but not your own, so please remember to book your timeslot in advance for Keukenhof and the bus from Schiphol airport. A detail guide for transport choices will be sent after booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

They're mainly located in the surrounding areas, like Lisse, about a 40-minute drive from Amsterdam., which is an average of 1 hour using public transportation. The area is connected by bus from Schiphol Airport, with buses running every 30 minutes during the tulip season.

.

Yes, for sessions starting in 120 minutes (The Explorer), we will be doing clips with the DJI Osmo Pocket. You will receive the edited clips without audio and 1 edited Reel with audio. We recommend you change the audio while posting so that we respect the rules of the social media apps and the copyright of the music used. The music I use is from Epidemic Sound, from which I have a license, and it is not commercial music.

No. drone usage is restricted in the area and we will not use it.

No, even though the recommended bicycle rental is located in Keukenhof, the garden is pedestrian. So, if you have opted for the option, we will be cycling outside Keukenhof.

Keukenhof has a no-entry policy, so if we leave after 30 minutes, you cannot go back and enjoy the largest garden in Europe. usually, a visit to Keukenhof takes 2 hours, and to make your experience the best possible we will be walking with you after the first hour of pictures is finished. So no rush to go to the next garden fast. This is why this option is only available from The Explorer (120 minutes), as we have booked the full morning for you.

As the Tulip Region is located 1 hour on public transportation from Amsterdam, we cannot book 30-minute sessions unless we are already booked on the same day. From March 10th, we will add in our highlighted stories, the calendar, and the availability for Mini Experience (30 minutes) in the region.

But please send me your requirements with as much information as possible (date/time/number of persons/garden to visit if known), so I can evaluate them according to the agenda of the day.

Only if you would like a private field as renting the place for us only has a fee. But if we go to one of the recommended gardens, it is only the standard entry fee. There is no extra fee for planning the engagement proposal, as every photo session requires planning. The travel fee cannot be voided though.

  • Photographer transport from Amsterdam to Keukenhof or to the tulip garden of preference, and return.
  • Photographer's entry fee to the garden of preference
  • Cycling time between tulip farms if needed
  • Time & preparation for the photo session

It does not include your transfer, your tickets, or your bicycle rental.

Yes, you can do it up to 2 days in advance for any dates open during the same season. The scheduling system allows you 215 days ahead, but remember that Tulip season ends on the first week of May. If you prefer a date outside of the Tulip Season, the payments and booking will be towards an Amsterdam photo session with the same length and offerings.

Cancellation is possible up to 30 days in advance for a partial refund. We retain only €50 for the Amsterdam guide already sent or the rental amount for a tulip field if requested as an additional service. You will always receive an email with this information to the one you must reply as formal confirmation and acceptance.

According to our payment merchant, the refund timeline is 5-10 business days (Monday to Friday) after receiving the request. We request it in no more than two business days (Monday to Friday) from receiving your email confirmation. After sending the refund request to the merchant, the date is reopened.

Rescheduling for next season is an option. We keep the current year's price and offerings, and you set a date for the next year. If you prefer this, we must continue the payments as your session is in the current year (original schedule and invoicing). You have then up to two years to set your new date. No cancellation is possible after this decision, as the payment acts as a guarantee for the next two years that a session will happen with the pricing of 2024. You will receive the Amsterdam guide updates within two years or until the date of the session.
