When you arrive in a new city, making friends can feel challenging. Friendship works differently when you're abroad. It doesn't happen naturally at first, as you don't have the same time or tools to meet people as you did when you were a kid.
Finding friends can feel like dating. You need to join various groups and activities to meet people with similar interests and try to keep them in your life. You're no longer in a school classroom all day but only have brief moments, like a coffee break or a museum visit.
Amsterdam International Women is more than just an organization; it's a community. They understand the challenges of making friends in a new city, and that's why they organize monthly activities like Sunday brunches, cocktail parties, and walks through Vondelpark. They're excited to create tools and events that help each other integrate into Dutch society.
These pictures were taken during the 2023 end-of-year cocktail party, a time filled with laughter and new friendships. I hope they bring back some fond memories. Did I mention I lead the photography club within the association? I can't wait to see you there soon and join a Photowalk together, creating new memories and friendships!
