Updated in 2026: I no longer offer photography sessions in Cusco or elsewhere in Peru. I am now based in Amsterdam. The places mentioned below were personal recommendations when this article was originally published, so please check their current information before visiting.

I met Jeewon and Adam through Flytographer, and we photographed their session in San Blas, one of my favorite areas of Cusco. San Blas begins behind Cusco Cathedral and extends uphill through narrow cobblestone streets. The walk can feel challenging because of the altitude and steep paths, but the views and atmosphere make it worth the effort.

At the time of this session, these were five of my favorite places to visit around San Blas:

1. The Twelve-Angled Stone

The Twelve-Angled Stone is one of the best-known sights in Cusco. You can find it along Hatun Rumiyoc Street, not far from the cathedral.

While walking through the historic centre, look for the golden signs marking the direction of Antisuyo, one of the four regions of Tahuantinsuyo, the Inca Empire. Finding the different signs around the city can become a small treasure hunt during your visit.

2. Green Point

Green Point was one of my favorite restaurants in Cusco. Its vegetarian food attracted vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, and its lunch menu offered plenty of food at an affordable price. It was best to arrive early because the daily menu was very popular.

3. Limbus Restobar

Limbus was known for its views across Cusco, creative drinks, and food. Reaching it required climbing more stairs, but the view from the top made the effort worthwhile.

Cusco becomes very cold after sunset, especially when sitting outside, so warm clothing is essential. Blankets were also available for guests.

4. Crepería La Bo’M

La Bo’M was one of my favorite places for crepes in San Blas. It had a warm and relaxed atmosphere, making it a lovely place to rest after walking through the neighborhood.

5. San Blas Market

Eating in Cusco’s historic centre can become expensive. If your accommodation includes a kitchen, San Blas Market is a useful place to find fresh ingredients and experience a more local side of the neighborhood.

One additional favorite was Hilo, a small boutique where I found one of the best scarves I have ever owned. Sadly, I lost it in Lima shortly before moving to Amsterdam, but I still remember it.

For travelers, I recommend planning a photo session near the beginning of a trip. Besides receiving photographs in meaningful locations, you can become familiar with the city and collect useful local recommendations for the rest of your stay.

Although I no longer photograph sessions in Cusco, this experience continues to influence the way I work in Amsterdam. I love combining photography with local stories so my clients leave with beautiful images and a deeper connection to the place they visited.
