Hello, my dears. I hope you are having a beautiful day, and if you plan to come to Amsterdam soon, enjoy the pictures I am showing here on the Blog.
Today I want to discuss which time to choose for your photo session. Believe it or not, for Amsterdam, I mostly do not choose to photograph during sunrise or sunset for families or couples, and I skip golden hour as well. Of course, this light is fantastic when doing documentaries or close-up portraits. Still, most of my clients ask to see the architecture, historical buildings, bridges, bicycles, and canals in their pictures. This way, timing is an essential factor when deciding to have your pictures taken.
And with timing in mind, we need to talk about pedestrian traffic and bicycle traffic in Amsterdam's specific case. Usually, between 8:30 - 9:30 am, people are on the streets. And in the afternoon, crowds will increase from 4:30 p.m., no matter the day or time of the year, the most iconic areas will be crowded.
Still, trust your photographer when selecting the time of the day and if there is a recommendation for changing the meeting point or even the route. Amsterdam has plenty of beautiful areas that will avoid pedestrian traffic and, at the same time, will look beautiful for your memories while traveling in the city.
