Capturing Timeless Memories in Zaanse Schans: A Family Photo Session to Remember

When it comes to travel, some moments deserve more than just a snapshot, they deserve to be captured with heart, intention, and artistry. That’s exactly what we aimed for during a recent family photo session in Zaanse Schans, and I’m so excited to share a glimpse of the experience.


I had the absolute pleasure of working with a lovely family during their visit to this charming Dutch village. Nestled just 20 minutes by car (or 37 if we combine train and walking time) outside of Amsterdam, Zaanse Schans offers the perfect backdrop for unforgettable portraits, with its historic windmills, riverside paths, and postcard-worthy streets.


From the moment we met, the connection was effortless. The family brought such warmth and energy, and my goal was to make them feel completely at ease, especially the kids! We laughed, explored, and embraced the natural beauty of the surroundings. My approach is always to keep things relaxed and natural, allowing genuine moments to shine through the lens.


As one parent shared afterward:

What made this session extra special was not just the stunning light or scenic locations (though we had both!), but the trust and connection we built throughout the experience. I guided them through some of my favorite local spots, from quiet windmill viewpoints to hidden alleys perfect for candid family moments. And yes, there was cheese tasting and a lot of giggles along the way.
