A Cozy Winter Session in Jordaan, with Privacy at the Heart of It

On a brisk March 30th morning, I met this lovely family of four: mom, dad, their 6-year-old son, and grandpa, for a 30-minute Flytographer session in Amsterdam’s Jordaan district. The sky was beautifully overcast, and the city’s charm felt as timeless as ever.

Although the temperatures were especially cold that day, the family came well-prepared in cozy layers and cheerful spirits. We kept the energy up with lots of movement: playing, jumping, walking, and sharing laughs along the cobbled streets and canals. Despite the chill, we created a warm and vibrant collection of images: 42 in total, capturing a mix of group portraits, child-only shots, and sweet connections between the child and each adult.

Why 30 Minutes Was Just Right

In colder seasons, a shorter session can be ideal,  especially with young children. This 30-minute shoot was the perfect length to stay comfortable while still capturing a full variety of images.

By keeping things light, fun, and efficient, we preserved everyone’s warmth and attention spans, and it clearly paid off.

Sharing with Purpose: How I Respect Your Privacy

After every session, clients receive their gallery first, always. I believe your photos belong to you before they’re shared with anyone else.

This family allowed me to share just 8 photos from their full gallery of 42, and honestly, that’s more than enough to tell a story. Each image holds emotion, connection, and a sense of place, proof that beautiful storytelling doesn’t require full access to every photo taken.

When you book with me, you’ll always have time to:

- View and enjoy your full gallery privately

- Share images with friends and family at your own pace

- Choose which images (if any) you'd like to keep private or allow for blog/social sharing

- Expect a blog post or social feature only 2–4 weeks after your gallery delivery, after your privacy preferences are expected to be set. You receive an email about this.

There are no surprises, no rushed posts, just thoughtful storytelling that respects your comfort and boundaries.

A Session That Felt Just Right

Despite the cold, this session was full of genuine connection and joy. The early 8:00am light, the peaceful backdrop of Jordaan, and the love between this little family made the short time we had truly meaningful. I'm so grateful to have captured these moments, and even more grateful for clients who trust me with their stories, while also trusting me with their privacy.
