Vacation Photography

Lima, Peru

My journey as a vacation photographer started in Lima, Peru, my hometown.

My journey as a vacation photographer started in Lima, Peru, my hometown.

Back in 2012, I realized there was a need to connect Lima’s rich colonial history with beautiful images for travelers. What surprised me most was when an Australian couple hired me to travel with them across Peru during their engagement trip.

Most people see Lima as just a stopover before heading to Cusco and Machu Picchu, but with them, we visited the three destinations and created a full documentary of their days: the hikes, the meals, the quiet in-between moments.

Not long after, in 2015, a Canadian company scouted me to photograph travelers visiting Lima. I remember being nervous during my first session, wondering: What do foreigners want from a photo session? What should I show them about my city?

And just like that, I began combining city exploration with photography, something that became a signature of my longer sessions. Without planning it, I slowly shifted from working with locals and weddings to photographing visitors, both in Lima and Cusco.

So when I moved to Amsterdam in 2019, starting over didn’t feel quite so unfamiliar. Vacation photography was new for me here, but by then, I had years of experience. There was a pause in 2020, the year I registered my business in NL, and in March 2023, I started regularly accepting commissions again with @flytographer.

✨On July 28th, Peru’s Independence Day, I want to honor where it all began.

This journey in Amsterdam was shaped by the decisions I made in Peru. There’s no perfect place, but there is the right mindset, the right moment, and the courage to say yes.

So much of the past 10 years has been shaped by saying yes to @flytographer and to photograph travellers in Lima, Peru. Some of them are here on this post, and not all of them were taken for Flytographer, but some are :)

Happy July 28th to all Peruvians near and far, keep following your dreams. They do come true.
